An interview with Junior category Championship leader, Jon Lee.

Jon Lee is no new face in the regional karting scene, with active participation in major competitions. The result is a composed, seasoned racer with focus.

We interviewed the current leader of the Junior category after Round 2 of X30 Challenge Singapore and found out why he is worthy of the numerous sponsors backing him.

Q: How has leading the championship changed your perspective on the upcoming rounds? A: It did not change my perspective in any way. I always do my best to win.

Q: Round 3 & 4 are going to be clockwise, which is different from Round 1 & 2. How will that affect you? A: It does not have an effect on me as I have driven in both directions. And as mentioned, I always try my best. So, I am not affected.

Q: What is your practice regime? How does it help you during races? A: I do not get to practice much due to school commitments but when I do, I drive laps to brush up on my techniques. Sometimes, I would go for longer stints to train my stamina so that I would not have problems lasting till the end during races. And of course, exercising regularly helps to improve my stamina.

Q: Do you prefer to totally dominate or have a bit of fun? Why? A: Generally, I would like to have some fun. Racing is more exciting with the element of unknown and it makes me think out of the box, pushing my race craft to the limit.

Q: Which driver (karting, Formula cars etc) is your biggest influence on the track? How so? A: Lewis Hamilton. He is a very fast driver no matter the situation and I strive to be like him to excel in any given situation.
